Report: Facebook sees no efforts from Russia, China to get user data

MOSCOW, Apr 12 (PRIME) -- U.S. social network Facebook has not detected any efforts of Russia or China to obtain personal data of users, the network’s founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg said at U.S. Congress hearings, business daily Vedomosti reported late on Wednesday, citing Reuters.

Facebook did not witness such activities, Zuckerberg said in response to a corresponding question by a Congress member.

In early April, the social network detected and deleted fake Russian accounts aimed at distributing defamatory information inside Russia. Among the closed accounts and pages were those of the organizations founded by the Russian government as state mass media.

Facebook stores no user data in Russia, Zuckerberg said.

Personal data of Zuckerberg himself along with data of 87 million Facebook users illegally leaked into the hands of Cambridge Analytica.
